If you want freedom of expression, you are indirectly saying that you want to say something which may not be liked or permitted by others. And therefore you want freedom.
When you say something which someone may not like it, he will say that you are abusing freedom of expression. He will say that your freedom to say want you want to say must be curbed.
You do not need freedom of expression when you want to say things which can be considered sweet by all. In fact, you are always welcome to say such sweet things.
The question of freedom of expression comes when you want to speak thing which many may not like it.
The key is to ability to tolerate when unpleasant things are said in an unpleasant manner.
