Arguments is often made that accused has paid money to the kins of victim and has compromised with accused...And therefore, punishment should be reduced.
But such payment cannot be a ground for reducing punishment. If punishment is reduced in such cases, it will send a wrong message to society that if you have money, you can commit crime and then can walk away by paying to kins of victim.
Therefore, this ground is not accepted in criminal law.
